Alan David Albright, aged 65, died on December 8, 2021. He was born to William D. and Harriet J. (Long) Albright on February 10, 1956 in Sharon, PA. He moved with his family to Muncie, IN, where he graduated from Northside High School. He went on to graduate with high honors from Indiana University-Bloomington, and with honors from the IU McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
The center of his life was his family. Meeting and marrying his wife, Deborah, was the best thing that ever happened to him. They married in 1980. He is survived by Deborah and their two children, Johanna (Matthew Stricker) of Fishers and Alan (Eric Thornburg) of Dowington, PA, as well as two grandsons, Asher Mullins and Matthew Stricker, Jr. In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Patricia Schroeder (Ronald) of Pendleton, Harriet Reeves (Harold) of Rock Hill, SC and Elizabeth Engelking (Don) of Sugar Land, TX; and sister-in-law, Carol, of South Bend. He was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers, William (Carol) of South Bend and John of Lafayette.
He retired from Anthem, Inc. as a Senior Associate General Counsel after 25 years. Previously, he worked for Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) and the Indiana Department of Revenue. He was very committed to social justice, especially in the areas of LGBTQ and reproductive rights. He had a lifelong affiliation with Planned Parenthood, including serving two terms as Chair of the Board of Planned Parenthood in Indiana and Kentucky. He was also proud to have worked on both of President Obama’s campaigns. He also served on the board of the Hamilton County Airport Authority.
The family would like to thank Drs. Daniel Milton and Michael Webber for giving him several good years after his initial diagnosis and for making his final days as comfortable as possible.
Alan’s mission in life was to leave the world a better place because he was here. You can be the judge of whether he achieved that goal.
