Aimee Lynn Sturm

April 29, 1977 — February 10, 2014

Aimee Lynn Sturm April 29, 1977 – February 10, 2014 The world lost a wonderful soul and heaven gained a new angel in its choir on Monday February 10, 2014. Aimee Lynn (Brashear) Sturm was born to Donna (Umfleet) Brashear and John Brashear Jr. in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She graduated from Lawrenceville High School and gained her Associates Degree in Radio Broadcasting from Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel. She continued the pursuit of her Bachelor's degree at Marian University in Indianapolis. Aimee was gifted singer, performing in several musicals in high school and continued to share her love of music and performance in the Dallas, Texas theater district. Aimee moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1999 where she met and married her husband, John Sturm in 2006. Aimee's daughter, MacKenzie Skye Sturm was born in 2007 and was one of the greatest sources of her strength. Aimee developed cardiomyopathy during her pregnancy and four months after MacKenzie's birth required a heart transplant to survive. This event encouraged her to champion a new cause to ensure other pregnant women would recognize the symptoms of cardiomyopathy and in so doing see early treatment and better improve their chances of survival. She worked tirelessly for the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization and was a gifted speaker on their behalf. She underwent many more surgeries in the next seven years, but always had a positive outlook and kind words to everyone she met. Aimee is survived by her husband, John Sturm, daughter MacKenzie Sturm, mother Donna Felton, father John Brashear, Jr., sister Heather Campbell, brother Benjamin Brashear, grandmother Mary Brashear, niece Genesis Campbell, nephew Cole Campbell as we as many more aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded to her heavenly mansion by her stepfather Kenneth Dale Felton, maternal grandparents Donald and Mary Umfleet of Lawrenceville and paternal grandparents, Neva and John Brashear of Flat Rock. A celebration of Aimee's beautiful life will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park North Funeral Center, 2706 Kessler Blvd W Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46228 on Sunday, February 16, 2014 1PM to 3PM with service following at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aimee's memory to the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization or to a special trust fund for her daughter MacKenzie. Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
