Aileen Lucille Johnson

Aileen Lucille (Locke) Johnson, 93, of Indianapolis, went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2024.

Aileen was born in Pershing, Indiana, on July 15, 1930. She was a registered nurse and received her degree from IUPUI Indianapolis, Indiana. Aileen was employed by Community Hospital East, Indianapolis, Until her retirement in 1992. She returned to nursing on a part time basis at Community Hospital North. After retiring she became a member of The Community Hospital Retirees Association.

Aileen and her husband Don, traveled to many countries for pleasure and mission trips during her lifetime.

She was a member of East 38^th Street Christian Church and Post Road Christian Church, where she was an active member of the choir.

Aileen was preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey T. Locke and Mildred (Boughner) Locke, brothers Robert and Charles Locke of Cambridge City, Indiana.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years Donald Johnson, daughters Susan McCullough (David) of Greenfield, Indiana, Beverly Jennings (Irving) of Shelbyville, Indiana, and her son Fredrick Johnson (Patricia) of New Palestine, Indiana, as well as 8 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Post Road Christian Church (1112 North Post Road, Indianapolis, Indiana) from 11 am – 12 pm. Funeral services will follow immediately with internment at Washington Park East Cemetery after.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Post Road Christian Church.
