Agnes Geraldine “Jerry” Altmeyer

March 18, 1934 — May 11, 2024

Agnes Geraldine “Jerry” Altmeyer, 90 of Indianapolis, passed away at her home Saturday, May 11, 2024. Jerry was born March 18, 1934, in Ridgely Tennessee to the late Nelly and Parnell Mitchell. Jerry was a full-time mother and mentor. She enjoyed her family including kids, grand kids, great grand kids.


The neighborhood kids used to call her Mother Goose as she treated them all like her kids. Jerry loved playing euchre and watching the Colts and the Pacers. At one time Jerry was president of Oak Park Ladies Auxiliary of the fire department and taught ceramics at Marcy’s Ceramic shop.


Jerry spent the remaining last years at Sugar Grove senior living facility in Plainfield and spent many days with her partner in crime, Barb Hall, frequently visiting the Metro Diner, where they treated her like extended family.


Jerry was preceded by her husband of 51 years, Robert L. Altmeyer. She is survived by her children, Robert, Gerald, Robin Altmeyer and Chris Binion. 5 grand kids, 9 great grand kids and 1 great great grand kid. Jerry was also survived by her brother, Denton Mitchell

 

A celebration of life will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road on June 3, from 4-6 pm. The family is requesting that instead of flowers, please make a donation to Gleaners food bank by clicking HERE
