Adrienne Nell

April 20, 1936 — March 30, 2025

Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Indiana – Adrienne Nell, 88, went home to the Lord, after being comforted by family on March 30, 2025. A strong and giving woman, she will be deeply missed.

Adrienne was born on April 20, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents Thomas & Ruth (Clinton) Gasaway. She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1954, and worked for Indiana Bell, which later became AT&T, for over thirty years, retiring in 1991. She married the love of her life, Graham Nell, on February 19, 1956, and celebrated 47 years together before his passing in 2003. She was a long-time member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church in Indianapolis and Trinity Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

When not working, Adrienne loved listening to music of all kinds but especially country and jazz. She could be found sewing American Girl doll outfits for her grandchildren, creating in her craft room, or watching the Hallmark Channel. She strongly believed everyone was important and rarely forgot a birthday or anniversary for her family.

Adrienne was an adventurous spirit until the end. She traveled not only the country but the world with her beloved husband and family. She was on a jet ski as recently as last year and received her first tattoo at the age of 75.

Most of all though, Adrienne loved her family and her faith. A firm believer in the love of the Lord and the love of her children, she was a kind and caring woman who was there for all who needed her throughout her life. Her love of life was celebrated through her infectious laughter, its absence deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Graham; son Michael Nell (Tina), and grandchild Robbie Woods.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen Sahm (Robert), Grant Nell (Brenda), and Ryan Nell (Julie); siblings Marcia Reed (Walter), and Richard Gasaway (Linda); grandchildren Stuart Woods (Allison), Broc Nell (Lacey), Kayla Hall (Derrick), Kristin Hamby (Jared), Thomas Nell, Amanda Parkes (Robert), Jacob Nell, Jon Nell, and Audrey Nell; 12 great grandchildren; as well as 3 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4 – 7 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) with funeral services on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Old Bethel United Methodist Church (7995 E 21st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46219) at 11 am. Burial will take place following the ceremony at Crown Hill Cemetery (330 West 32nd Street, Indianapolis, 46208).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Old Bethel UMC or Trinity Methodist Church (706 14th Avenue S, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, 29582) in Adrienne’s name
