Ada Trimmer

November 23, 1950 — February 3, 2026

Greenwood

Greenwood, Indiana – Ada M. Trimmer, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on February 3, 2026. Her kindness, her joy, and most of all her love, will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Ada was born on November 23, 1950, in Beech Grove, Indiana, to Millard Scott & Matilda Marie (Swatts) Byers. Ada grew up in Fountain Square and attended Arsenal Tech High School, and after leaving, Ada joined an insurance company as an underwriter. With a brief break to take care of her family, worked for over 45 years before retiring from Liberty Mutual.

Ada was baptized into the Indian Creek Christian Church on December 24, 2010. She volunteered there for many years and always looked forward to the Bible studies, twice a month. They remained in her heart and prayers as her health began to decline and she knew their love stayed with her. Dedicated to her faith, Ada never missed a day of studying scripture, whether in her Bible or a devotion book.

When not working, Ada enjoyed spending time at the casino, traveling with her husband Dennis, and vacationing at Mackinac Island. Ada would relax by shopping on QVC and collecting pigs for her home and yard decorations. An accomplished crochet artist who made beautiful Afghans, baby clothes for her grandchildren, and other textile arts. She was also an active line dancer and bowler, attending tournaments with her husband and son. Every month for many years, you could also find Ada enjoying dinner with her best friend Sue at Texas Roadhouse.

More than anything, Ada was devoted to her family. She loved her husband Dennis more than anything and after their marriage on July 20, 1974, they celebrated over 34 years of marriage before his untimely passing in 2008. Together, they were inseparable, traveling all over the country and raising their beloved son, Dennis. As her grandchildren were born, Ada found a new happiness, doting on them and making them happy, even if that meant her fingernails got painted bright green. She kept every card, every note, and every picture they drew her. Her family will grieve her passing but remember the happiness they had with her.

In addition to her parents, Ada is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Trimmer, and siblings Larry S. Byers, Janice M. Shea, and Carole Harper (Julius).

She is survived by her son, Dennis Trimmer (Susan); sister Beverly “Joann” Leffler (Lewis, who has passed); grandchildren Logan Wyatt Trimmer, Delaney Belle Pitzer (Preston), Sophia Grace Trimmer, Korbyn Mattingly Trimmer, and Conner Donavin Ladd; great-granddaughter Louella Belle Pitzer, brother-in-law Jimmy Shea; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Please watch this space for further updates; a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Ada is now reunited with her beloved husband, free of pain, and heartache. She is smiling with her beautiful bright red hair, and her eyes so full of life. She will be forever missed, more than she ever knew.

“I love you to the moon and back.”
