Nancy Jane (Dawson) Shaffer

Nancy Jane (Dawson) Shaffer passed away on June 14, 2021 at the age of 76.  Nancy was born in Louisville, KY on October 16, 1944 to her parents, Leo Botto and Margaret Lynn (Montgomery) Dawson.  Nancy graduated from Spalding University.  Nancy worked during her career, as an administrative secretary in the printing industry before leaving the workforce to become a homemaker.  Nancy was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Kiwanis International (Broad Ripple Chapter).  Prior to the pandemic, Nancy had not missed a single Kiwanis Club Convention since joining.  She loved traveling and especially loved Chicago.  She was also a huge collector with an eclectic taste in a variety collections.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, A.G. “Terry” Shaffer; parents, Leo and Margaret; and siblings, Martha P. “Philomena” Dawson and James B. “Jim” Dawson.

She is survived by her brother, William L. “Bill” Dawson (former spouse, Patricia Dawson); sister-in-law, Shirley Dawson; nieces, Margaret Elizabeth Dawson and Heather Johnson (Chris); and great-niece, Sidney.

Friends may call from 4pm until 7pm, Monday, June 21, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 Crittenden Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, PA.

Memorial contributions in Nancy’s memory may be made to: Kiwanis International Foundation, the Salvation Army or Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
