A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt — Mary “Maria” Hernandez, 86, of Indianapolis, Ind., was reunited with Jesus Christ Jan. 16, 2022 in Indianapolis.

Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7:30 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway, 2950 North High School Road, Speedway, Ind. A Funeral Mass by Father Nico will be held Saturday at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church at 11 a.m. and will be preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 435 West Troy Avenue, Indianapolis.

Mary was born in Moroleon, Mexico, to Hermino and Carman Guzman on May 18, 1935. She married Alfonso Hernandez on June 13, 1954 in Chicago, Ill.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother – Hermino Guzman Jr.

She is survived by her husband Al Hernandez, seven children – Roy (Corrinne) Hernandez, Jim (Joy) Hernandez, Vicky (Tony) Monaco, Joe (Karrie) Hernandez, Henry (Bobbi) Hernandez, Alfie (Stacie) Hernandez, and Linda (Jody) Wooster. Also survived by sisters – Anna Moreno, Rose Alvarez, Beatrice Serrato, Josephine Guzman and Lucy Veloz. Surviving are 16 grandchildren – Lauren Hernandez-DeCrane, Cory Hernandez, Adrian Monaco, Nick Monaco, Dana Hernandez, Anita Hernandez, Ali Smith-Hernandez, Josh Hernandez, Cleo Hernandez, Caleb Hernandez, Eva Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez, Gwynne Hernandez, Trey Zabona, Isaac Hernandez and Jenna Zabona. Surviving are three great grandchildren – Alice James DeCrane, Beckett Hernandez and Ellie DeCrane. Mary also enjoyed a special relationship with several step grandchildren.
