Kenneth Jack Mcdivitt

June 24, 1919 — June 2, 2016

Kenneth Jack McDivitt passed away in West Lafayette, Indiana on June 2, 2016, at the age of 96. He was born June 24, 1919 on a farm near the town of Ashmore in Coles County, Illinois, the son of Martin and Dimple McDivitt. He attended Eastern Illinois State Teachers College for High School and one year of College.

Jack married Matilda Cox in 1940 and they have two children, Wesley McDivitt (fiancé, Linda Hudson) of Lafayette, Indiana and Patricia McDivitt (husband, Jerry Hopkins) of San Antonio, Texas. Prior to World War II, Jack and Tillie lived in Chicago where he was employed at the Pressed Steel Car Co. which was manufacturing the M4 General Sherman Tank. During the war, Jack served in the U.S. Army overseas in both Germany and Japan. Afterwards, he was employed as a patternmaker in the skilled trades department of International Harvester (now Navistar) in Indianapolis, Indiana. He worked there for 35 years and retired in 1981.

Jack is survived by his wife, Tillie, his son, Wesley and his daughter, Patricia, a granddaughter, Kelley Sanders, three great-grandchildren, and a brother Phillip Gene McDivitt (wife, Dee). He was a member of Old Bethel Methodist Church in Indianapolis, as well as, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.

Friends may call at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, Indiana from 10 am until 12 pm on Monday, June 6, 2016. Services will be held Monday, June 6 at 12 pm at the funeral home with entombment following at Washington Park East Cemetery.
