James Christian -Chris- Giles

James Christian “Chris” Giles, 52, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 22, 2017. Chris was a loving husband, amazing father, attentive son, adored uncle, and faithful friend. He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Sherri Giles; his daughter Dayanera Giles; mother Sandy Giles, and sister Pam Giles-Hannin.

Chris graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1983. After graduation, he was a proud alumnus that continued to cheer on the Hornets through time. Chris was known for his contagious smile, he could light up the room with it. Everyone he met loved him. Chris was a racing fan, he attended the past 33 Indianapolis 500`s at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was often accompanied by Sherri and/or Dayanera. He was a Kiss fan, which was the first concert he ever attended. Chris and his wife Sherri first met and grew closer through their time of playing softball together. They both played and enjoyed this sport for many years, they then passed their skills and love for softball down to their daughter Dayanera.

Chris had many things he enjoyed. He loved to cook especially for his family. He loved vacationing in the Great Smokey Mountains and South Carolina. In this time, he loved to drive the loop of Cades Cove and kayak in the Charleston Harbor. He loved napping and keeping his home and yard tidy, just like his father. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Sunday October 1, 2017 from 2:00-6:00pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East. A private funeral will be held Monday October 2, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to help with Dayanera`s college education. Please mail donations to: Dayanera Giles Donation Account P.O.
