Doris Veronica Conrad

Doris Veronica Conrad, 95 of Indianapolis, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at her home she shared with her husband of 73 years Frederick "Fred" John Conrad. The couple just celebrated their wedding anniversary December 2.

Doris was born November 19, 1921 to John and Florence Nelson in Cleveland Ohio. She spent most of her life in Indianapolis, graduating from St. Mary's Academy in 1939.

Doris was an avid gardener and maintained a beautiful yard for 25 years at their Lockerbie home. She was also a self taught painter and produced beautiful paintings of flowers the family still cherishes. Doris was a devout and active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Doris is survived by her husband Fred, and 4 of her 5 children. Mary Florence Forsythe, (Bill), Stephen Conrad, (Elaine), Cecilia Conrad, and Vincent Conrad, (Stacey). Doris was preceded in death by her son Frederick "Fritz" Conrad and her brother John "Jack" Nelson.

Doris is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Doris was a loving wife and mother and will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple. Services will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
