These trees, symbols of hope, new life and revitalization, will stand tall as living memorials to your loved ones.

This donation is made to the Hoosier National Forest and to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, not for a specific tree. A letter recognizing this donation is sent to each family we serve.

About the program
  • Flanner and Buchanan makes an annual donation to the Hoosier National Forest and to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful towards their tree planting programs. This gift is made in honor of every family that Flanner and Buchanan serves.

  • Families have the option of adopting one of these trees by becoming a volunteer with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. KIB schedules tree plantings in dozens of Indianapolis-area communities each year. Perhaps you may wish to volunteer in a neighborhood with meaning for your family. Information can be obtained through Sarah Grain, volunteer coordinator, at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, 317-264-7555 x106.

  • FACT. Indianapolis has lost 25% of its trees over the last 20 years due to development. The Mayor’s Office has recognized this concern and is backing an effort to plant 100,000 trees by 2016.

  • Our donation to the Hoosier National Forest goes towards their sapling planting program. The United States Forest Service plants these trees where there is the greatest need. Because of this, specific trees can not be tied to specific individuals.

  • Flanner and Buchanan planted a tree on Monument Circle in honor of the company’s 125th Anniversary.
Cemeteries within the Washington Park Cemetery Association and the Catholic Cemeteries of Indianapolis have tree planting programs where memorial plaques can be placed next to a tree. There is no requirement for burial to do so. There is a fee for these programs. Plaques cannot be placed next to trees in the Hoosier National Forest or next to trees in the Keep Indianapolis Beautiful program.
